Aerospec Technologies 2019 Year in Review

Aerospec Technologies 2019 Year in Review

Happy New Years from Team Aerospec! We are taking a look back at 2019 with 20/20 vision. It was certainly a big year for Aerospec Technologies!  Our operations expanded both in terms of quantity and range.  From entering new continental markets, to servicing farms of over a gigawatt, Aerospec broke new ground and set the stage for an even better year in 2020. We are thrilled to share these successes with you.  In 2019, we;

  • Commissioned the largest solar farm at 250MWdc in Texas
  • Performed first swarm operations and inspected the largest solar park in the Americas
  • Launched local operations in Australia with a 70MWdc solar farm in New South Wales
  • Deployed a fully autonomous mobile app specifically designed for solar industry to increase in-field efficiency by 400%
  • Signed the first multi-year service contract with a utility scale solar developer in North Carolina

Those were just some of the highlights for Aerospec in 2019. We started the year by working with the largest utility-scale solar farm in Texas!  The 250MW farm was at risk of losing hundreds of thousands of dollars due to delayed completion. Responding to the urgent call for help, Aerospec’s team arrived on site within a week of initial contact and began delivering results within  48 hours.

In Mexico, Aerospec was tasked with inspecting the largest farm in the Americas, Villanueva Solar Park, a solar park composed of over 800MWs.  Using our first swarm deployment, or conducting multiple drone operations simultaneously, our team inspected the entire 2,6000 hectares in just 6 days.

Across the world in the Middle East, Aerospec competed in the highly selective technology venture competition and was a winner in the American University of Sharjah New Venture Challenge.  The AUS NVC selects innovators from all over the world, and rewards the best with money to help turn their scientific innovation into a commercial success.  The competition opened the door for Aerospec Technologies to establish a presence in the Middle East. As evidenced by Aerospec’s discussion with a local drone operator to implement our solution at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, expected to be the largest in the world at its completion.

Aerospec continued expanding its global presence into the Southern Hemisphere starting with a 70 MWdc solar farm in New South Wales.   With portfolios of more than 1GW under discussion, Australia’s solar market will become our main focus in that side of the world.

As Aerospec continues to accumulate valuable in-field data and brings insights into solar operations, our CEO shared industry best practices about aerial inspections and the use of Artificial Intelligence in Solar at Solar Asset Management in Sydney, Australia.

As a major validation of Aerospec’s value to the industry, Narenco, a premier solar developer and operator in the U.S., committed to a multi-year inspection of its entire portfolio, more than 30 solar farms across the Southeastern United States.

Our team grew while business expanded.  Aerospec Technologies Mexico team tripled in size in 2019, expanding the office’s services to include Solar O&M, Wind O&M, and Precision Agriculture. Our Mexico team serves as the go-to service provider for the major solar parks in the country, covering nearly 2GW of portfolios!

The real game changer in the field was the release of our proprietary AeroSolar app in September, allowing clients to optimize and automate the data capture process.  On average, the app increases field efficiency by nearly 400%.

2019 ended with a bang when MassChallenge named Aerospec one of the top 20 startups from the 2019 cohort, emerging from over 1,000 startups globally. Furthermore, Aerospec was selected to be one of the alumni-in-residence for 2020! We are proud to call MassChallenge at Seaport our home for the upcoming year!

Thank you for being a part of our Aerosec community in 2019! Our mission is to lower the cost of renewable energy deployment through technology innovation. The future is bright, and we hope that you’ll continue with us on our journey. Please share your feedback – we’d love to hear from you!
